2018 Wedding Trends

From the show stopping dresses to the tiaras, we are seeing an exciting surge in over the top royal inspired weddings! The burlap runners and mason jars are fading away and are now being replaced with total glam and carriage rides to some of Sarasota’s most beautiful and historical locations.
With inspiration rising from the upcoming Royal wedding, we have seen a trend shift on the Suncoast to a more formal approach to wedding catering.
Couples are becoming more adventurous in their cuisine choices and the general flow of their special day. Many couples want to create a more memorable experience for their guests and are adding modern and elegant twists to traditional receptions. One new trend we are seeing and loving we might add, are morning weddings with brunch and luncheon receptions. Morning ceremonies are the perfect opportunity to capture all the glitz of sun kissed florals, shimmering tablescapes with beautifully plated entrees and gold dusted towering cakes.
Treetop chandlers and candles are no longer only for the evenings. Couple all this with a historical venue with incredible architecture and you’ve set the stage for a perfect day!

Couples are also looking for new ways to share their cultures and the things that are important to them, like old family recipes. We often create custom menus for our clients and incorporate recipes that have been passed down for generations. There is nothing better than making a grandmother proud when she sees her dish presented in a new and exciting way, but still honors the taste and tradition.
We are also seeing a true and steady incline in sustainable and environmentally friendly cuisine requests. This is a transition, not a trend, for all vendors not just caterers. Couples are committed to keeping all the glamour they desire while still being kind to the planet.
Using Fair Trade flowers, purchasing local and supporting businesses that “do good” are important to the up and coming generations.
We changed all our menus to natural and organic products in both our restaurants and catering operations to reflect this movement and it has been wonderful for everyone involved. Elegant and interactive tasting stations have been keeping guests talking about recent weddings for weeks after the event. Everything from elaborate champagne bars with fresh seasonal fruit and custom Craft Cocktail stations to Asian noodle box bars and hand made pasta stations prepared inside a wheel of Parmigiano Reggiano have been the most popular.
With so many options to get guests excited, up and moving, we have a feeling this trend is here to stay!
