5 Dress Trends for 2019 Weddings
Fasten your seat belts, brides! We've poured over social media, blogs and spoke with our expert Kim Frazer, co-owner of the Perfect Dress of Sarasota, to find out what you need to know for the most important statement piece in you wedding … your gown, of course!
If you are still on the hunt for “the one” here are the wedding dress trends you need to know.
If you thought Kate Middleton's wedding dress made a mark on the bridal world, you haven't seen the Meghan Markle effect. You can feel the royal wedding's influence all over trends this year from accessories such as tiaras and cathedral veils to sleek and classic dress lines. This season's minimal aesthetic brings clean lines, simple tailoring, and just a hint of 90's nostalgia with curve hugging dresses.
Traditional lace is out and has been replaced by large appliqué details. Designers haven’t been shy about covering wedding dresses in oversized, 3D, heavy floral embellishments. “The Bohemian trend is winding down. Although the texture lace is still a perfect choice if you are looking for a more casual or barn wedding.”
“The most surprising trend is the sexy, sheer risqué dress elements. High slits, deep plunging necklines, sheer bodices.” Kim thinks. Here are the two trends that hit the runway this past season …
The Super Plunge
The deep “V” seems to be receding deeper and deeper. Most designers are taking their v-necks almost down to the navel, and add in illusion netting to help conceal but give an ultra sexy bridal look that still feels appropriate.
Speaking of ultra sexy, the hottest trend that every bride seemly wants to try is the “illusion” dress. These dresses look barely there, yet still manage to cover tastefully with lace appliqués, beading, and illusion netting.
Gone are the days of strapless everything, sleeves are back! “Necklines and arm or shoulder treatments are becoming more poplar. From spaghetti straps to three-quarter length, sleeves are making a full circle back onto the trend scene.” Kim claims, and we couldn’t agree more!
90's inspired delicate spaghetti straps encrusted with crystals or off the shoulder sheer sleeves with lace details are everywhere. Brides are choosing to add more detail this season.
TIP: With the rising trend of sexy “illusion” dresses and plunging neck lines, sleeves help create a balance.
With Violet being 2018’s Pantone color of the year, purple has made its way on to the bridal scene and it’s here to stay. Shades of lavender are on trend and will be seen through out the year. Pink hues look to be up and coming as well as opposed to the traditional blush.
Looking for something a bit more dramatic? Silver and gold metallics will hit center stage as brides are wanting to be more glam than ever. “Color is a big part of the 2019 bridal gowns, a true white dress as tradition is now an Ivory or light gold color. Blush, platinum and gold seem to be very poplar for the new year.”
