Who doesn't love the mythical creatures? While unicorns, fairies and dragons are all the rage right now in pop culture ... nothing screams "nostalgia" to a female Millennial like Mermaids. 1. “What happens in Vegas”…
The Silverton Hotel is host for Las Vegas’ annual MerPalooza! Your go-to for all things mermaid, it’s the biggest mermaid convention Stateside. With over 70 vendors (including tail-makers) and a panel of speakers, even mermaid and pirate awards, MerPalooza is a must-see for mer-enthusiasts. Be sure to spend some time in the Hotel’s Mermaid Lounge. That features a 117,000-gallon saltwater tank with 4,000 tropical fish swimming alongside mermaids.
2. Mermaid Parade ...
At the end of every June is the famous Coney Island Mermaid Parade. A MUST for any mermaid obsessed bride. The Mermaid Parade is the nation's largest art parade and one of New York City's greatest summer events
An American version of the summer-solstice celebration, it features participants dressed in hand-made costumes based on themes and categories. Join in the parade as a group, or simply walk the boardwalk as a bystander. You'll be amazed at the elaborate costumes and enjoy living the mermaid lifestyle for a day!
3. Beginner mermaid training ...
Off the coast of Key West, where you might expect mermaids to gather, Sunset Key Cottages has teamed up with Southernmost Mermaid School. They offer private mermaid training programs to guests of the luxury resort.
The two-hour program for budding mermaids of any age includes a custom mermaid tail fitting, one-on-one training, underwater treasure hunt and waterside tea party. In other words, your mermaid dreams come true.
Or hop a plane and head to San Diego for a girl’s weekend. The Hotel del Coronado offers its own mermaid fitness classes while you’re at the hotel! Mermaid Fitness is an instructor-led 45-minute fusion class of swimming, core, cardio and strength training. Set to upbeat music this fun class will bring out your inner mermaid as you don a colorful tail. The class includes use of a Del mermaid tail and towel service. Then kick back and spend the day poolside at the private cabanas.
Walt Disney has decided to enhance the latest trend. “The Little Mermaid” fans can channel their inner Ariel at a new Walt Disney World experience. Disney announced there will be a new Mermaid School class at select Disney World resort hotels. Guests of all ages can take an hour-long class where they’ll be fitted with a swimmable mermaid tail and learn how to swim like Ariel. The Mermaid School costs $50 and will be available on select dates at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. You can book your class starting mid-March by calling 407-WDW-PLAY.
3. Wanna stay Local?

Watch as they perform their version of Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Little Mermaid” twice daily, and Fish Tails on the weekends during which the mermaids perform underwater feats such as eating and drinking underwater.
